Celebrating its tenth anniversary of honoring outstanding women leaders, the AAUW Laguna Beach Branch will pay tribute to four inspirational women who have served our community in so many outstanding ways.
SUSAN V. BRYANT, PhD ‑ Women in Science

The evening will begin at 5:30 with complimentary appetizers and wine served to the accompaniment of Ed Merrilees on the keyboard. At 6:30pm, dinner will be served and AAUW-LB Co-President Madeleine Peterson will welcome our guests to this fabulous evening in the spectacular setting of Tivoli Too.
SUSAN V. BRYANT, PhD, is currently Professor of Developmental Biology and Vice Chancellor for Research at UCI. Susan was the first woman to be hired in the School of Biological Sciences at UCI in 1970. She served in many administrative capacities, including Dean of the School. She is being honored for her outstanding efforts to advance women in science at UCI and nationally.
MARY FERGUSON has been a Laguna Beach City Arts Commissioner for last 5 years and a Pageant of the Masters volunteer in the makeup department 2003-05. She was chair of the 2004-05 LB CHOC Fundraiser that raised $100,000. Mary was a Member of Board of Trustees at LCAD for last 4 years, Chair of Board for last 3 years and continues on the executive committee. For the past 4 years, she has been a Board of Directors Member for Pacific Marine Mammal Center, continuing as Vice Chair, and chair of its annual fundraiser that raised over $100,000. Mary chaired the 2008 LB Alliance for the Arts ‑ Art Star Awards and will continue as chair.
BETSY JENKINS served for 6 years on the Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education and is the Board liaison to the Orange County School Board Association. She chairs the Education Committee of the Laguna Beach Sister City Association. Along with her husband, Betsy is an active supporter of School Power and the Endowment Fund, the United Methodist Church, Boy Scouts, the Friendship Shelter, the Laguna Art Museum, and the Boys and Girls Club. She is a member of AAUW and the Woman's Club of Laguna Beach.
JAN SATTLER, a founding and current member of the LB Tide Water Docent program, worked with her husband to found the Laguna Ocean Foundation, and helped create the city Marine Protection Officer position. She is a Sawdust Festival exhibitor and is a member of that Board in charge of educational programming. Jan was in charge of docent training for new exhibits at the Laguna Art Museum, is a Laguna Outreach Community Arts teaching artist, served on the Laguna Beach Arts Commission for 10 years, and started the city Artist Designed Bench Program.

Tickets for the event are $55, if purchased by October 13, and $65, if purchased later. $20 is tax deductible.*
No reservations will be accepted after 16 October and no walk-ins.
